Reduce, Reuse & Recycle
Reduce, reuse and recycle are the most common waste management strategy, ranked according their order of importance. The goal of waste management is to obtain maximum practical benefits from the products while generating the minimum amount of waste.
- Reduce – To buy less and use less. Encourages habits such as turning off electrical appliances not in use instead of putting it on standby, taking shorter showers and taking public transports.
- Reuse – To use back elements of discarded item. Promotes activities such as reusing of products such as plastic food containers, repairing malfunction appliances and various innovative way of reusing a used product.
- Recycle – Discards are separated into materials that may be incorporated into new products. Encourages proper disposal of materials such as displacing of plastic bottles into plastic recycling bins, and processing it into a new ready used material.
