Nature & Sustainable
Consumption of Earth resources are an inevitable part of human civilizations. However, inappropriate and over usage of earth’s resources would result to irreversible damages such as pollutions, destruction of natural environments and waste disposable problems. Hence, it is important that resources used should be those that are naturally occurring and renewable in nature.
Using of naturally occurring organic resources that are readily available are usually less impactful to environment as compared to the productions of man-made materials. For example, productions of plastics cause various environmental pollutions as well as waste disposal problems. Another important aspect of naturally occurring resources is their biodegradable property. Biodegradable refers to the natural dissolution of the materials by bacteria and other biological means. Hence, minimal negative impact is done to environment should the resources are disposed after use.
In order to minimize damages, it is also important to consume resources that are sustainable. Sustainable resources refer to resources that are used up at the same rate as it is being renewed or produced. Energy sources such as wind and solar are renewable, as well as resources such as water. Resources such as fossil fuels and minerals are generally considered non-renewable due to their long naturally occurring time in nature. Hence, emphasizes has been put on finding substitute for limited resources, such as bamboo substituting wood and renewable source of energy substituting fossil fuels.
