Conservation Energy

Energy conservation refers to efforts made in order to reduce energy consumption. In addition to reduce, energy conservation also involves efficient usage of energy. This includes implementation of power efficient technologies such as using air-conditioner with inverter.

Electrical energy, which is the most widely use form of energy, is produced mainly from the burning of fossil fuels. Burning of fossil fuels would cause pollution problems and emission of green house gases, which contributes to global warming. Other sources of electricity such as coals, nuclear and natural gas also creates pollution. Hence, a good way to start the conservation of energy would be to save electricity.

There is various method of conserving energy, with most requiring nothing but conscious effort from the user. Simple practices such as switching off lights and appliances not in use rather than putting them on standby would reduce electricity consumption by 5% to 10%.

Government and non-government organizations can play a part in energy conservation as well. A mandatory label such as the eco label, placed on electricity saving appliances, helps the awareness of general public regarding such choices.

At commercial level, there is a need to regulate lightings such that over-illumination is avoided. Contrary to the popular belief that over-illumination would attract shoppers; it is actually found to induce stress, fatigue and even headache.

All in all, energy conservation much is long term solution to energy shortage problem, as compared to increasing the production of energy. Be it energy from renewable source or non-renewable source, production of energy would create certain degree of negative impacts.
